My name is Sue Lamb. I teach Math 7 and Advanced Math 7 at Summit Lakes. I also am the sponsor for the Scholar Bowl Team. I taught 8th grade math and Algebra for 2 years in Raytown and this will be my 13th year teaching at Summit Lakes. I grew up in a rural area of Missouri called Chamois and had 29 students in my graduating class. For 2 years I attended what was then called University of Missouri - Rolla. Then I got married and transferred to the University of Nebraska-Omaha where I received my BA degree in Secondary Education. After having 3 children and working as a paraprofessional, before teaching, I received my Masters of Education degree from Park University in 2017.
My greatest joy is my grandchildren. I have 3 children, Daniel, Scott, and Stephanie, who attended Summit Lakes and still live in this area. My oldest son and my daughter both had babies this summer. I had a grandson, Grant, and a granddaughter, Josie, within 12 days of each other! For relaxation, I enjoy taking walks with my husband, Wayne, around Raintree Lake, and getting together with girlfriends for Bunco.
My philosophy is that education is about curiosity and the desire to learn. The process of learning should be interesting and helpful to the student. Students should be active learners who gain confidence from the process of questioning and exploring. I believe in every student and will respect each student’s individual needs in order to develop meaningful connections that leave each child feeling important and valued. I am excited to get to know all the families that I will be working with this year!
