📌 What is Consumables?
Consumables are materials that are used up, worn out, or need to be replaced regularly while doing a task or service.
In Industrial Arts (Electrical), consumables are items that do not last long and must be replaced after use, such as wires, electrical tape, solder, fuses, and insulating materials.
TYPES OF CONSUMABLES IN ELECTRICAL SERVICES
Convenience Outlet
A device that provides a source of electrical energy where appliances are plugged in. It may be single, duplex, triplex, or multiplex and can be surface or flush type
Male Plug
A device inserted into a convenience outlet to conduct electric current. It is connected to a flat cord and used to power appliances.
Lamp Holder
(Lamp Socket)
A device that holds and protects the lamp. It comes in various designs and sizes.
Switch
A device used to connect or disconnect the flow of electric current in a circuit.
Fuse
A circuit protective device that automatically cuts the current when overload or short circuit occurs.
Circuit Breaker
A protective device that automatically trips and cuts off current during short circuit or overload.
Junction Box
An octagon-shaped box where wire connections are made. It may be metal or PVC plastic.
Utility Box
A rectangular box made of metal or PVC where switches and convenience outlets are mounted.
Flat Cord
A duplex stranded wire used for temporary wiring and extension cords. Common sizes are #18 AWG and #16 AWG.
Electrical Wire/Conductor
Carries electrical current.
Stranded wire: Made of multiple strands.
Solid wire: Single strand, used in building installations.
Conduits/Pipes
Protect and insulate wires.
Metallic conduit
Flexible non-metallic conduit (CPC)
Rigid non-metallic conduit (PVC)
Clamps
Secure conduits in place.
Metal clamp
Plastic clamp
Connectors
Attach conduits to junction or utility boxes.
Metal connector
Flexible non-metallic connector
