For Students

Apply the 4 Pillars of Wellness to Coping with this Pandemic

Connect

  • Communicate with your family. Although you also need your space, be sure to not isolate in your room for excessive amounts of time.
  • Stay in contact with friends through FaceTime or other online communication
  • Reach out to relatives who may be close by or far away ... this is an opportunity to have more time to connect with them
  • Interview grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and learn more about their lives. Although they have never experienced these particular circumstances, every generation has had their challenges and hearing theirs may help build perspective.

Create

  • Create small daily goals and routines for yourself
  • Create a comfortable work space to focus on school work and nurture creativity
  • Create a quote or vision board to help inspire hope and perseverance

Gratitude

  • Keep a list of what you are grateful for every day
  • Appreciate the little things that we often overlook
  • Get outdoors and find gratitude in the fresh air and warmer weather

Mindfulness

  • Mindful movement! Walking, running, stretching, biking, yoga or any form of exercise will help our minds and bodies stay healthy.
  • Be mindful of screen time and excessive social media and news watching. Set limits for how much media/news is healthy vs. what becomes excessive and stressful (this one is IMPORTANT!)
  • Be mindful of others. This is a time of particular importance to look beyond ourselves ... understanding that your restraint can save lives is empowering!
  • Practice mindful breathing and relaxation...stay in the moment!

*Add your own ideas and try to practice one activity from each category daily.*
