The number one factor in improving every subject is reading! Anything! I normally do not assign reading logs because I am constantly talking with my students about what we're all reading, recommending books, tracking progress with AR, etc.
Below I'll give some ideas for ways to access reading material:
Lafayette Public Library's Overdrive- This is our public library's digital platform. It will require a library card, but there are so many great options here as well.
Scholastic Book Orders- I will periodically send home flyers for Scholastic Book orders. Students gets so excited to pick out their own books to read and love when the box arrives knowing they have a book inside!
Learning Ally- This is an audio book app that can be accessed through Clever. It has TONS of options for books!
In the past, to meet an AR goal, students needed to meet their point goal AND have at least 85% correct for comprehension. The LEVEL of books students are taking tests on will be taken into account. This level is based on the STAR test they took at the beginning of the year. Students need to be taking tests within their "level". SO, in order to meet their AR goal they must:
Meet their point goal
Have at least 85% correct for comprehension
Take AR tests on books that are within their range based on the STAR test
If you have more questions about this, please email Mrs. Mercado and she can talk with you about your child individually!
