This Chapter 74 program is ideal for students who enjoy science in action, problem-solving, and managing a project from conception to completion. Through classroom instruction, shop workstations, and real-world worksite experience, students are trained on modern electrical devices, apparatus, and wiring used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, as well as advanced electrical theory and electrical code updates. Students also learn to install and troubleshoot equipment, including motors, controls, transformers, and advanced high and low-voltage systems. The curriculum for each of the courses within the program is aligned to the Massachusetts Department of Education Vocational Technical Education Frameworks. Each course level will include classroom instruction and hands-on, practical application of the skills acquired. Students will be expected to complete individual and collaborative projects that will prepare them for a career in the electrical industry or to pursue post-secondary educational opportunities.
