The Health Assisting Program is a Chapter 74 program that is a comprehensive competency-based course that is designed to help students develop the skills needed to meet with success in the workplace. The program introduces the students to career opportunities in the field of healthcare as well as providing an opportunity to become proficient in performing the clinical skills necessary to work in a healthcare environment. Emphasis is placed on specific Nursing Assistant duties and on the concepts pertaining to the psychosocial aspect of caregiving. Students receive a strong academic foundation as well as experiencing externships where they can practice their skills in a real-world setting under the supervision of experienced medical professionals.
Students successfully completing the Health Assisting program have the option of securing gainful employment, continuing formal studies at the post-secondary level, or pursuing a combination of both.

Mrs. Ledbetter has many years of experience in the field working in multiple healthcare settings as a Registered Nurse. She was formerly the Middle School nurse for the Leicester Public Schools. Her real life experiences allow her to provide the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to choose a career pathway that is right for them.
