Enrollment in Career Technical Education program is open to all Leicester Public School students. Qualified applicants are considered for all open seats without regards to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, pregnancy and pregnancy-related condition, age, active military/veteran status, ancestry, or national or ethnic origin. In addition, no student will be disqualified based on prior academic performance or perceived level of support, including Students with Disabilities, English Language Learners, Students from Economically Disadvantaged Homes, etc.
All Grade 9 Students at Leicester High School participate in an Exploratory Course during their freshman year. The Exploratory Course is a course that has students attend each Chapter 74 Program for a short period of time, where the students are exposed to that industry including possible career opportunities, learn about the tools and materials of that trade, and learn some basic skills. This allows students and families to make informed choices about which Shop they want to pursue. Upon completion of the Exploratory course, Students will then choose their Shop. Space is limited in each Shop (depending on the program). If there are more students interested in entering a Shop, than seats available, a lottery will be held to determine which Students will be enrolled.
Students who are not residents of Leicester are eligible to apply for admission to LHS’s CTE Programs for the Fall of 2025. All entering students in Grade 9 will be enrolled in an Exploratory class where Students have the opportunity to experience each of the Chapter 74 programs for a short period of time. Upon completion of the Exploratory Course, Students will select the Shop they wish to enroll in. Space is limited in each Shop (depending on the program). If there are more students interested in entering a Shop, than seats available, a lottery will be held to determine which Students will be enrolled. Please be aware that residents of Leicester who meet the minimum admission requirements will be admitted before any non-residents seeking the same program. Students and families can find information on the Chapter 74 Nonresident Student Tuition Program online.
