Happy Leap Day!
We had some extra fun as a staff hiding 600 mini frogs around the school for students to find on the extra day of February. PTO provided jars for classes to collect what they found in classrooms and in the halls throughout the day. The class who collects the most frogs will win a popsicle treat from the PTO! Thank you PTO for supporting our extra fun ideas!

Box Factory for the Arts Elementary Art Show:
When: March 14th-April 7th
Where: 1101 Broad St. St. Joseph, MI 49085 Thurs-Sun 2-4pm
Who: 40 artworks from HW artists will be selected at the end of February. If our child's artwork is chosen, they will be notified and a letter will be sent home with information.
Reception: March 14 6-8pm
Juried Awards: Berrien RESA $50 art scholarships (1 student per school), Category awards for 2D and 3D, 1st ($50) and 2nd ($25) place gift cards, Collaboration Award ($50 gift card), Stevens Memorial Award for 2D, 3D, and Digital 1st and 2nd place ($50 gift cards)

March is Reading Month
Did you know that students who read on a regular basis with their parents have a higher success rate and feelings of satisfaction throughout their school career? We want to give a big thank you to Kelly Wilson, our Scholastic Book Fair Coordinator, for all her hard work with planning, set up, getting volunteers, and running our book fair last month! Hopefully lots of new books are being read this month for reading month!

Field Trip
On Tuesday, March 5 from approximately 10-11am, the WHOLE school will be going to the High School to see a snippet of the high school production of Newsies. Permission slips were sent home and we've received most of them back--thank you! Another round will be sent home this weekend. Please take a peek in your kiddo's folder to see if they are bringing another form home. Please read over, sign, and have them return it to their teacher on Monday. Thank you!
