ToK Essay Guidelines
The ToK essay counts for 66.6% of your ToK final score. It is 10 points on the rubric, and this is doubled to make a possible 20 points. The Exhibition is 10 points on the rubric. IB adds your Exhibition score and your Essay score (x2) to get a score of 30 which translates to an A, B, C, D, or E.
Grade boundaries for 2022 were as follows:
A = 22-30;
B = 16-21;
C = 10-15;
D = 4-9;
E = 0-3
The Essay should be as close to 1,600 words as possible. This does not include citations, works cited, or title page items.
You can either have a title page OR include the following before the start of your essay on the first page:
Theory of Knowledge Essay
Title #2 (and then write the title)
Session: May 2025
Word Count: 1564
Number your pages at the bottom and double-space in 12 point font
Do not alter the essay title in any way. Answer it as it is written.
