About Mrs. Markus
I was born and raised in Waukon, Iowa, and I received both my B.A. in Journalism and M.A.T. in Secondary English Education from the University of Iowa. Between degrees, I lived in Iowa City, Seattle, Chicago, and Busan, South Korea, working as either a journalist or an English teacher. After graduate school, I moved to Breckenridge and spent two years teaching English, ESL, and Journalism at Summit High School. I became an Eagle in 2018. I am proud to teach AP Seminar and Reading in addition to sponsoring Key Club.
In my free time, I enjoy biking, camping, hiking, making movies, napping with my cats, attending concerts, traveling, and playing softball, kickball, and volleyball. I have traveled to 23 countries and enjoy bringing stories, news, ideas, and art from other cultures to my classroom instruction.
