Model Magic Cupcakes

I think this may be one of my favorite projects! The kids loved making these model magic cupcakes. They learned how to shape the clay and roll a coil for the frosting. We used pipe cleaners for the cherry stems. Once the cupcakes were painted with watercolor the kids put glue on the frosting and added sprinkles using seed beads and/or glitter.

Remote Learning Projects

I got lucky on the first day of our remote learning when I asked how many kids had some type of coloring material at home and all of them said they had at least one thing they could use. We did a lot of fun projects throughout the week, and I definitely enjoyed when the kids held them up to the camera, but seeing them in person when we returned to school was definitely the cherry on top! These kids are rocking the remote learning.

Sailboats

This year for Art to Remember the students did sailboats with oil pastel and watercolor. Even though the drawings were done step by step I love the creative take the kids had on finishing their projects to make them unique with color, line, shape, and patterns.

Flamingos

I love how these flamingos turned out! The students did a great job controlling their paint and creating lots of values in their artwork. They learned about value, color, shape, and line while doing this project. They are so colorful you can't help but smile when you look at these!

Snowy Birds

This project had multiple steps that the students handled well. We started with painting two pieces of paper with cool and warm colors any way we liked. Later we used those papers to create our birds. We also learned about to create winter (leafless) aspen trees using black paint and scraps of mat board to make them look round and give them form. We finished this project by adding snow with tempera paint. The kids learned about color, value, form, shape, and line while doing this project.
