Model Magic Ladybugs

It's been a LONG time since I tried to use model magic with my students and I figured why not try it out again...I'm so glad I did! The kids LOVED working with this material and being able to make these cute ladybugs and take them home in just two days.

Flowers

I love how this project turned out! The kids chose a color for their background. I then gave each student some round stickers which we used to create the center of the flowers. The students were then guided through drawing some unique flowers to expand their skills. We then used maker to color the flowers in. We talked a lot about contrast while doing this project.

Cupcakes

These cupcakes are our Art to Remember for 2020. I love how colorful and fun these turned out! The students learned about line, shape, color, and value while doing this project.

Colorful Flowers

The students started this project by painting the background - they could choose their colors, but as you can see most did rainbow. We then painted circles with tempera paint using at least two analogous colors. When it was all dry I guided them through drawing some flowers with sharpies. I love how these turned out!

Ladybugs

The first graders did these awesome ladybugs for their 2019 Art to Remember project. Since life is more fun when you get to choose your colors for your art the students could make their ladybug any color they wanted to - as you can see most still went with red.
