The Euclid Middle School Music Program has a history of excellence. In 2022, 2023, and 2025 Euclid was awarded an "Exemplary Band Award" from the Colorado Bandmasters Association, and in 2023 the Euclid Jazz Band performed at the Colorado Music Educators Association Clinic/Conference. The concert and jazz bands both consistently earn superior ratings at festivals. You can read about our program Accolades and Awards here, and the growth opportunities for students are outlined here.
Because Euclid requires all incoming sixth graders to take a music class (either band, orchestra, or choir) many students find a passion in music and continue to make music in school throughout their middle school experience (and hopefully into high school and beyond!). Sixth graders at Euclid participate in music classes that meet every other day for about 40 minutes and are generally smaller and instrument specific for band students, while seventh and eighth graders meet every day for 40 minutes in larger groups.
LPS provides sectional coaches twice a week for the sixth grade groups at all middle schools in the district, and Mr. Holcombe consistently seeks to bring in guests to help encourage students and provide support. Thank you Sectional Coaches and District Leaders for continuing to support this amazing program!
In addition to concert bands, Euclid has an audition-based jazz band that meets outside of the school day 3 times a week. This group has performed at the Mile Hi Jazz Festival and the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival for many years, and has consistently earned Superior ratings. Students can also participate in the musical, small ensemble performances, honor bands, and more.
The Euclid Middle School music program is a great place to learn about team-work, goal setting, cooperation, perseverance, intrinsic motivation, self-directed learning, and most importantly...making music with one another!
