Day 5
The last day but not the least interesting!
In the morning we got up early to go to the Gymnasium library to work on the website. It takes some time to gather all the pictures and explain properly our days! Then later all the delegations filled out a google form to say what they thought of this trip and to share ideas about how to make this Erasmus experience even better.
Then we took the S-Bahn with the plan to take a walk-in Munich and visit the city freely all afternoon.
We got out of the underground directly on Marianen Platz, one of the most central and iconic spots in Munich! The very impressive church stands right next to the new city hall and the surroundings were very crowded.
LUNCH IN VIKTUALIENMARKT
We had the freedom to eat wherever we wanted and got indicated Viktualienmarkt (a very large market a few minutes away).
We chose to try typical German dishes to go, seafood sandwiches, bratwurst, some fries, and well-filled tasty doughnuts!
EXPLORATION OF THE ALT STADT
We were free to visit almost all afternoon and we wandered around the "Alt stadt", the ancient part of the city.
CITY CENTER HIGHLIGHTS
Munich's town hall
Fischbrunnen's fountain
Frauenkirche
We visited Frauenkirche (a very large church) in which we saw the Teufelstritt (literally the footprint of the devil). According to the legend, the devil, out of rage, would have stamped his foot, forever marking the floor with his black footprint.
Feldherrnhalle
This is a monument built to honour the bavarian army.
Odeonplatz
A beautiful place at the end of the Ludvigstrasse.
Hofgarten and bavarian government
We ended up in a park (Hofgarten), where king's court used to stay a few centuries ago. There, we saw the bavarian governement building (on the left).
After that free tour, the german teachers took us for a more guided one with explanations, very interesting! We arrived in a park where we even saw some very brave Munchners surfing on the river!
DINNER AT AUGUSTINER
We then had some more free time and enjoyed a maximum of these last moments in Munich. To end this exciting day, we headed to a different part of the city where we ate in a very famous restaurant called Augustiner.
All the menu was typical german dishes, we had schnitzels, grilled pork meat, potato knudles, and many others!
The way back was quite emotional since we knew we were sharing one of the lasts moments altogether. But we had such a good time and created such amazing human links during this week, we all keep unforgettable memories of it.
