The school counselor plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive developmental guidance program that promotes the educational, career, personal and social development of students. The comprehensive developmental guidance program should include the following 4 components: classroom curriculum, responsive services, individual planning and system support.
Includes crisis intervention, consultation, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
Classroom lessons are done at least monthly throughout the school year to teach and increase academic success, career, and social/emotional skills.
A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending some extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills along with their peers, as well as connecting with students who are coping with similar life situations. Groups can have anywhere from 3-12 members and usually meet once a week during lunch for several weeks.
Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges. Mrs. Jones will work with students with the last names A-L, and Mrs. Wilkes will work with students with the last names M-Z. If a student is in crisis, they can see either school counselor.
The counselor meets with caregivers and/or teachers to address issues with students.
