has been an English teacher at the Lowell High School Freshman Academy since the 2022-2023 school year. Her passion is to build close relationships with her students and to make her classroom engaging by always "finding the fun"! She loves traveling to Disney and Wales in her time off. She was introduced to spoken word poetry during her senior year and fell in love with it. She has always dreamed of running a poetry club like this! She is thankful that she has such wonderful students who have chosen to be part of it and create something truly beautiful.

As a teacher, Douglas Bishop has more than four decades of experience with students ranging in age from 1 to 90, from daycare to university, but now works primarily online with Mill City Speaks. As a poet, he has performed in a variety of venues, from Glasgow to Guatemala, but now he’s most easily found at the Untitled Open Mic in Lowell, MA, where he is one of the co-hosts. He has a doctorate in education, with a dissertation looking at the development of literate identity in young writers, and continues to be involved with teen poets as an organizer for Freeverse!, Lowell’s youth poetry group. He is also a visual artist working in various mediums and a musician playing with Dr. Dougie’s Dangerous Delight, a jazz-poetry fusion band.
