"Louisville Public Library New Director Announcement"

Library Board of Trustees President Bob Hallier has announced the hiring of Brock J. Hutchison as the new Library Director for the Louisville Public Library. "The Library Board of Trustees spent many hours reviewing applications and interviewing candidates before arriving at the decision to hire Mr. Hutchison," said Mr. Hallier. "We are really looking forward to working with him and he comes to the Louisville Public Library with excellent qualifications."

Mr. Hutchison of Malvern, Ohio, was hired by the Library Board at a special meeting on Wednesday, September 4. He was selected from an original pool of about twenty-five applicants from Ohio and several other states, including Pennsylvania, Mississippi and Nebraska.

Mr. Hutchison, who will begin his new duties on Monday, October 7, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Muskingum University and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Kent State University.

He currently serves as Mobile Services Manager at the Stark County District Library where he leads a staff of 19 employees with five fleet-sized bookmobiles and a robust senior citizen outreach program. Mr. Hutchison previously worked in various positions at the Licking County Library in Newark, Ohio, before his arrival at the Stark County District Library.

Mr. Hutchison is married to Lindsey Hutchison, his wife of seven years, and they are expecting their first child later this year. He is an avid Cleveland Cavaliers fan and enjoys boating, basketball and reading. Mr. Hutchison is excited to serve the Louisville Public Library and the communities of Louisville and Nimishillen township.

Facing the new library director is a campaign to renew a 1 mill operating library levy on Tuesday, November 5. This is a levy renewal and is not a new tax.

Interim Director Mike Snyder, who has served in this position since early May, will work his final day at the library on October 18 when he will resume his retirement from public service.
