Hello, Mrs. Ibbitson here!
Welcome to English 7 in room 16. I'm glad you are in my class this year, and I'm looking forward to lots of fun learning times with you!
I am married to Ian, who is a software engineer/business consultant, and we have two children. David is our eldest; he also is a software engineer and a LosAl grad. He is married to Kelly and they just had their first baby in May. His name is William, and Ian and I are loving being "Nana" and "Grandad"! Bethany, our youngest, is also a LosAl grad and she is a 4th grade teacher in the beautiful area of Humboldt County, California.
Seal Beach is our home town; we love to walk to Main Street and visit the pier. If you live in the area, you may see Ian and me walking our little dog, Jazmine.
This summer has been fun! Ian and I took our first ever cruise and visited Alaska. It was truly beautiful! We saw spectacular scenery, glaciers, bald eagles, and humpbacked whales.
When I'm not teaching or working on school work, I love to spend time with my family, walk in Seal Beach, work on my home and garden, listen to music, read a good book, hang out with my friends, or WhatsApp with my family in the U.K.
Speaking of good books, I found time to do some reading this summer! I read The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. These are page-turning stories about a strong female character, Katniss Everdeen, who takes on an evil dictatorship in a dystopian society. If you haven't read them, try to read them this year! You won't be able to put them down! I also read the illustrated versions of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone , Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, all by J.K. Rowling. The illustrations are created by Jim Kay and they are truly beautiful. For my nonfiction reading, I read a memoir by a lady named Fran Lundquist. Fran was a victim of domestic violence, and so she opened a shelter in Orange County, called "The Sheepfold," for other women who were victims and had nowhere to go. Long story short, there are six shelters operating today in O.C. offering comfort and hope to women and children. :-) I hope that you have read some awesome books this summer, too!
Looking forward to spending 7th grade with you,
Mrs. Ibbitson :-)
P.S. Below are some photos taken this summer!
