"Reading is Fundamental.  In fact, it is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that you can be."

Reading Week is here and we must ensure we take every opportunity during this week to ensure students have the opportunity to read aloud, discuss what they are reading and really explore to build a culture of passion and confidence around reading.

It was amazing to come together as a school for Remembrance assembly and it is always wonderful to hear students read aloud confidently and share with their peers. Thank you Mr Smith for preparing Chak R. (Jaguars) to read during the Year 10 assembly.

It is fantastic to reward students for their improvements in reading, spelling and attendance. We must ALL continue to encourage our students to aim to be the best they can, carefully guiding and supporting them along the way.

It is fantastic to see our student prefects along with our Head Boy and two Deputies. Just wonderful! How will they develop in their role? How can we provide leadership opportunities? A superb effort from Raiyan A. in achieving his silver badge as part of the LBS 150 competition, please congratulate him. Thank you Ms Clarke for your continued efforts in motivating the Year 11 students to read.

Along with reading, how can we provide opportunities to develop writing? It was superb to hear students confidently use mnemonics (ACOMPASS) to support their memory when developing their writing. Thank you Ms Baker for your hard work in embedding essential terminology. Wonderful!

It is brilliant to share the successful launch of our Functional Skills provision with Year 9 and 10. It is just superb to see students supporting each other with Sehaj explaining the work to his fellow classmate. He is an amazing student, please continue to encourage him to grow in confidence. Thank you Ms George for all your hard work with our students.

The buzz in the room was incredible...students reading, mentors listening, guiding and asking questions. Our reading mentors continue to support our EAL students and it is just remarkable to see the level of learning that they encourage. The power of students supporting one another can not be underestimated.

Thank you everyone for all your hard work in preparing for Reading Week, it can only happen with everyone on board.

Thank you for your support, Mrs Kang.
