Practice these steps 5 days a week, for at least 15 minutes each time.
Week 2 (9/17-9/23)
Mouthpiece work:
Buzz on the mouthpiece. Do low notes (slow air, relaxed lips) and high notes (fast air, tighter lip corners)
Attach the mouthpiece using a gentle twist and use the picture above to remind you how to hold the trombone.
Lip Slurs: Play three notes Low-High-Low.
In first position (slide all in).
In second position (halfway to the bell).
In third position (slide at the bell).
In fourth position (slide out a bit more).
Practice page 4 in your book.
Week 3 (9/24-10/1)
Keep working on sound. Work on your embouchure to guarantee that you are able to play the note you want and not the note that happens to come out. Practice playing the high and the low notes in each slide position.
Keep working on your F, Eb, D, C and Bb notes. Try to make the notes as long as steady and even as possible.
See if you could play a mini scale starting on Bb and going up all the way to F, and then going back down again.
Play nos 4 and 6 on p. 4
Play no. 8 on p. 5 and see if you could also play no. 10!
Week 4 (10/1-10/7)
Keep working on sound. Work on your embouchure to guarantee that you are able to play the note you want and not the note that happens to come out.
After warming up on your mouthpiece, play a 5-note warm up scale up and down. First long notes, then repeated 4-note pulse.
Practice p. 5 nos 8, 10 and 12
Write in the note names in no. 13 (play the melody if you want!)
Week 5 (10/8-10/14)
