Week 2 (9/17-9/23)

• Drum:

  • Set up your snare drum or practice pad. 

  • Practice these patterns: 

    • RRRR LLLL

    • RLRLRLRL

    • RRLLRRLL

  • Practice page 4B in the drum section of the book. 

• Bell set

  • Set up your bell set.

    • Explore your bell set. Make up a song using the back row of keys (just for fun!) Slide around. If you have two sides to your mallets, try out both sides. What's the difference?

    • Practice page 4. 

Week 3 (9/24-10/1)

• Play nos 2, 4 and 6 on p. 4 and nos 8 and 10 on p. 5 on both the snare drum and on the bells

Week 4 (10/1-10/7)

• Start your practice with a scale warmup on the bells. Play 4 repeated notes of each pitch, up and down. 

• Play all the pieces up to no. 12 on both the snare drum and on the bells

Week 5 (10/8-10/14)

• Start your practice with a scale warmup on the bells. Play 4 repeated notes of each pitch, up and down. 

• Play all the pieces up to no. 12 on both the snare drum and on the bells

Week 6 (10/15-10/21)

• Start your practice with a scale warmup on the bells. Play 4 repeated notes of each pitch, up and down. 

• New homework: practice nos 14, 17 and 18 with bells and snare. 

Week 7 (10/22-10/29)

• Focus on snare drum this week. Remember that you can practice the bass drum parts also on the snare, just to get the rhythms right. 

• New homework: practice p. 13, no. 56 Old MacDonald Had a Band. 

Week 8-9 (10/29-11/12)

No school on 11/5! Please keep practicing regularly.
