6th Grade Computer Science class focuses on introducing students to basic coding using a text-based modified java script program called Bitsbox. Students also practice diagramming and annotating their code. They explore a variety of jobs available in the computer science field. They learn what makes a computer a computer. They are introduced to concepts such as what is an IP address and what packets are.

6th grade students learned several skills such as various functions like the loop, tap, and drag functions. They practiced coding and changing variables, writing conditional statements, and constructing random lists as well as using numerous other commands. After completing a number of projects, they were asked to create their own apps.
