Hey Designers! Let’s learn the foundations of art and design while using Google Suite, Cricut, and a Button Maker. The digital projects (posters, flyers, logos, branding) encourage innovation, problem solving, and creative thinking, while the physical products (water bottles, bookmarks, keychains, buttons) encourage teamwork, community, and school spirit. Let’s make art that matters, designers!
In this elective we will learn the skills and techniques for the game of volleyball! We will also learn the importance of teamwork and creating a supportive community to promote growth for everyone to build upon our VAPA standards. In doing this we will learn the importance of being a supportive audience as well as providing feedback to help make personal performance goals. Additionally, there will be a focus on dance standards in our warm ups to help us learn coordinated movements and to prepare our body to gain the strength, endurance, flexibility and movement range to adequately execute learned volleyball techniques.
A large part of theater is getting comfortable working with other people and building team skills. In this elective, we will be practicing these through group activity games, sharing circles, brain busters, and team challenges. Think: collaboration creation station, Miss Majewski’s one-stop shop to gain confidence while having fun expressing!
Garden incorporates being outdoors as well as indoor lessons and art. We beautify the garden, weed, water and plant. Students learn about our school garden ecosystem and the basics of gardening.
In this engaging art class, students will dive into the elements of art and explore famous visual art pieces. Students will create unique art pieces using a variety of mediums, materials, and techniques, allowing them to develop their skills and unleash their creativity as they craft their masterpieces. Join us for a journey into the world of art!
Get creative while building with legos! Focusing on building individual and collaborative creative art designs with Legos, while demonstrating openness to trying new ideas and methods. Students will be able to discuss and reflect on your design and details.
In Stop-Motion Animation we perform magic. We will make everyday objects come alive, talk, and move. We can make things disappear and reappear and even change one thing into something completely different. We use an animation app on iPads to create short animated movies that demonstrate basic animation skills that all professional animators use. Movies will be shown at the VAPA showcases. We mostly work with cut paper so expect to use scissors frequently, but we will also be able to explore animating other materials including whiteboards, found objects, and people as time allows.
Students will learn the basic muscle groups and how to strengthen them through dance movements. They will learn a basic choreographed dance and will have the option to perform for the student body.
In this class we will be learning basic photography skills and techniques such as rule of thirds, leading lines, depth of field, etc. by practicing taking photos and learning from master photographers. By the end of the unit, students will create a product that will be displayed at our winter showcase showing the skills they have acquired during this class.
In this elective, you will develop your creativity and take your weaving to the next level! You will explore a variety of weaving techniques, learn about the history of weaving, and discover what fiber artists of today are creating!
Bucket drumming is a hands-on, engaging way for you to explore rhythm, percussion, and music. Learn about rhythm, timing, and coordination. Also develop their listening skills and the ability to work as a cohesive group.
