Academic Career Planning
Academic and Career Planning (ACP) is a key component of school counseling that helps students chart a course for their educational and professional futures. It’s a collaborative process involving students, parents, counselors, and educators, aiming to ensure that each student is prepared for life after graduation, whether that path leads to higher education, a technical career, or the workforce.
How Can Families Support ACP?
Engage in Conversations: Regularly discuss your child’s interests, goals, and plans. Encourage them to explore different careers and consider how their academic choices align with their future aspirations.
Attend Meetings: Participate in ACP meetings and conferences at school to stay informed about your child’s progress and the resources available to them.
Support Exploration: Encourage your child to take advantage of internships, job shadowing, and other experiential learning opportunities that can provide insights into various career paths.
Talk About Interests and Dreams: Encourage your child to share their interests and what they enjoy learning about. Discuss how different subjects they study in school relate to various careers.
Encourage Exploration: Support your child in trying new activities, whether it’s joining a club, playing a sport, or engaging in a hobby. These experiences can help them discover new interests and talents.
Celebrate Achievements: Recognize and celebrate your child’s efforts and achievements, no matter how small. This builds confidence and reinforces the value of setting and reaching goals.
By working together with school counselors, families can help ensure that students are well-prepared for their future educational and career endeavors

ACP for Elementary Students
At our school, we believe it’s never too early to start thinking about your child’s future. While it might seem like college and careers are far off, the foundation for success is built during the elementary years. This is where Academic and Career Planning (ACP) comes into play, even for our youngest learners.
Academic and Career Planning at the elementary level is about helping your child discover their strengths, interests, and passions. Through engaging classroom activities and discussions, students begin to understand how their education connects to the world around them. We focus on the following key areas:
Self-Discovery:
Students participate in activities that help them recognize their personal interests, talents, and abilities. This self-awareness is crucial for making informed decisions in the future.
Career Awareness:
We introduce students to a wide range of careers and professions, helping them see the diverse opportunities available to them. This exposure helps them dream big and consider various possibilities for their future.
Goal Setting:
Even at a young age, setting simple, achievable goals can be very empowering. We encourage students to set academic and personal goals, fostering a sense of responsibility and accomplishment.
Skills Development:
Essential life skills like teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and perseverance are nurtured through classroom activities and group projects. These skills are not only important for academic success but are also vital in any career.
