Describe your plan of action and how each of your four chosen competencies will influence its design and implementation.

Cindy Gopp and I worked together on this project. You may see similar artifacts, but we each created our own portfolio.

Competencies: Adult Learning and Group Process

• By respecting each learner and understanding that we all can contribute. We will have challenges that come up as we work through this project and know that we can if we listen respectfully and we all can contribute to the solution.
• How will you manage group dynamics, collaborate with colleagues, and guide groups through challenge and controversy, conflicts and adversity in order to reach a conclusion or compromise?
• Groups will be self selected and ask them to work together to come up with a solution. Each subgroup will contribute to the whole group project. When we introduce the project, we understand there is no one way to do the project. We just need a handbook as the end product.
• We all learn at different paces and in different ways. Adults need to feel respected for their knowledge. My creating a project that allows them to work in groups and alone will create a balance for all the groups.
• By allowing them to self select groups and have a leader for each group will meet their needs as leaders and as learners.

Diversity, Equity, and Cultural Competence: Collaborate Purposefully

We all bring different perspectives to the table. By listening with an open mind, this can help others to see that we need to be aware of other points of view. This is important to learn from others and listen to their perspectives.

How will your leadership leverage the strengths and address the needs of diverse stakeholders to support the plan of action, develop capacity, broaden decision-making, and learn collaboratively? I am building relationships with our administration and school board. As this was my second year as president. We began by talking to our Superintendent and education committee (additional building principal and school board member) about creating a teacher handbook that would become a quick reference guide. They loved the idea and supported our classes by allowing us to offer 12 OPI units for the project.

How will you use collaboration, questioning, data, and reflection during the implementation of your action plan? Next we asked new teachers and building principals what they wanted in the handbook. This would then become our needs assessment. We decided we needed more people to be involved in the group process. So we sent out the survey to the entire district (Evidence below). We sent an email to those who would be included in the process.

How will you address obstacles that you may encounter in implementing your plan? Cindy and I will meet often to discuss obstacles and how to address them.

How will you know if your action plan is successful? By finishing a completed handbook and remarks from staff members.
