This orchestra is an extra curricular, full symphonic orchestra and is reserved for top performing musicians that have committed to rehearsal once a week.  WSO meets during the first DenTime of the week and will have 3 scheduled performances a year included District Assessment.

Chamber Orchestra

This is the top orchestra at WHS and many students make it into Chamber Orchestra because of private lessons. Students work on advanced techniques, perfecting tone, sound, and musicianship. Chamber orchestra students perform in 4 large concerts each year, District Orchestra Assessment, and the Woodgrove Fine Arts Gala. Music performed is typically in the VBODA grade 4-6 range.

Symphonic Orchestra

This orchestra focuses on developing advanced techniques, improving tone, intonation, and musicianship. Symphonic Orchestra also performs in 3 concerts each year and participates in District Orchestra Assessment. Students are encouraged to take private lessons, and many opportunities for individual advancement are available. Music performed is typically in the VBODA grade 3-4 range.

Concert Orchestra

This is a 9th and 10th grade group with a focus on strengthening string playing techniques, such as shifting, vibrato, proper position, good tone production, and so on.
