Paulding School-Wide Expectations
Paulding's school-wide expectations are the basic rules for how students and staff should behave to be successful at our school. These expectations help build a positive school environment by promoting good behavior and stopping negative actions. They include how students should treat each other and their teachers, as well as how they should act in the classroom.
At Paulding, learning is everything, and we believe discipline is not punishment. Instead, discipline is part of education. Paulding Pride is our proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students to achieve social, emotional and academic success. Our teachers work to help students learn from their mistakes. In general, we have three simple rules; be respectful, be responsible and be safe.
Behavior is monitored in all areas of our campus from the time students arrive at school until they leave and return home. If school expectations are not met on a habitual basis, students will:
Receive a verbal reminder of the expectation.
Complete a Behavior Agreement and parents/guardians will receive a message about their student's behavior.
Receive logical consequences (examples: seating change, structured break, restorative chat, privilege revoked, etc).
Receive a timeout from class, reflect on their behavior while completing a Refocus Form and parents will receive a follow-up message.
Receive a referral which may result in lunch and/or after-school detention.
Major behavior issues, such as fighting, bullying, aggressive defiance or disruption, possession of illegal items, etc will result in immediate office referral and appropriate consequences will be determined by school administration.
Attendance at school activities is dependent upon citizenship. It is also dependent upon being in school on the date of the activity unless prior permission has been received.
Paulding students are to observe the same standards both at “in-school” and “out-of-school” activities.
