About the Artist

Lexi Moore is a Sophomore at Lower Moreland High School. She is involved in many after school activities, such as the High School Newspaper, Art Club, Interact, and so much more. Lexi has always used art and poetry to express abstract ideas and feelings that she can't really express through any other outlet. The majority of her art is based on her poetry. Quarantine has allowed her to grow and develop as an artist, writer, and individual. A lot of her work contains dark themes that mirror the unprecedented and challenging times that we are currently facing.

Trapped:
I lost myself along the waySlowing fading With the passing of each day
Mimicking the person I use to beNow, an empty shell of a distant memory
For the mounting pressure contained within Pulls me downripping off my plastic skin.
Going through the motions of everydayMy life now a treadmillRunning, never to stop, never a breakAll just stay in the same exact place. Held on by a single thread. For to have even one breath or a single breakWill cause my body to eventually take
A wasteland of broken dreamsA room full of forgotten memories

My own never-ending quarantine.

Dreamers:
Some live just to liveAll for a breath of airto sustain a societyLife the ultimate goalLiving the prospect
But for the dreamersThe ones who question and endeavorends of the unknown intrigueFor some they seekDrives of passion, emotion so bare
That once goneThey try to feelHead UnderwaterBody of firePain seeping from their veins
The unknown waiting to be skimmedLike their lifeless skinFor life without rawness, is just deathmerged into one with the exception of a simple breath
The Toxicity of Your Love: They say love is painand I guess it’s true
Embodying the ideaReinforced by you
Capture the birdto keep it safeOr let it goin harm's way
Clenching onto that birdUnable to breatheGasping for aircontinuously
Plucking out its featherslike pages from a bookthe story of its life now suddenly morphed
Once, prevalent chaptersNow torn away
But love is painDeeply endured
Justified in allowanceFor our love forsworn
