“the awareness that arises from paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally." Jon Kabat-Zinn
It is about cultivating a focused awareness of the present moment, intentionally and without judgment. Mindfulness helps us become more attuned to our thoughts, emotions, and the world around us.
How Do You Become Mindful?
Formal Practice: These are structured exercises designed to develop mindfulness skills. They include activities like meditation, body scanning, mindful movement, and mindful breathing. In these practices, individuals set aside time specifically for mindfulness, allowing them to immerse themselves in the present moment intentionally.
Informal Practice: Mindfulness can also be practiced informally throughout daily life. It involves being fully present in everyday activities, such as eating, walking, or listening. By incorporating mindfulness into these moments, we can enhance our ability to stay present and engaged in our daily experiences.
