Each season (aka school year) Valley TLC produces a minimum of 2 shows.
Fall Play in Early November
Spring Musical in Early March
Both shows feature student performers, stage crews, and design crews. The fall play is a significantly smaller production than the spring musical and does not have as many roles. Participation in Valley TLC productions is determined by audition or written application. Decisions are made by the production team in collaboration with Welsh Valley teachers and administration.
A play is a theatrical performance that tells a story through speaking. There may be music used to enhance scenes, however the music does not tell the story. There is no choreography in a play and performers must tell the story through the dialogue and physical expressions.
A musical is a theatrical performance that tells a story through music and dance. Some musicals feature little to no spoken dialogue. Performers should be comfortable singing and dancing - however there are roles for individuals who are new to those art forms. Musicals tend to be larger productions than plays - this is certainly the case at Welsh Valley.
