Outside of Disney Music, the Cozy Jazz Spotify playlist, Podcasts, and silence, here's what I'm currently listening to. Is there something that should go on this list? Let me know! I'm always on the hunt for new music!
Symphony No. 2 by William Grant Still - HOLY MOLY is this an amazing symphony. I can't believe I just started listening to it, but boy am I glad I did. We did Still's Symphony No. 1 a few years ago in full orchestra; I honestly like this symphony better. It's BEAUTIFUL.
The Named Angels is a one-movement String Quartet by Mohammed Fairouz, and this is a quartet I return back to every once in a while; and every time I do I remember how much I like it. If you like Shostakovich you'll like this.
When I find myself searching for peace (and let's be honest, that's a lot these days), this is the music that I turn to. This movement of this quartet has always centered me; to me it sounds like a fall landscape and the idea that some things really, truly do last forever. I know this whole thing sounds cheesy, but when I need to remember what really matters, here's where I turn, and it has been for most of my life.
Once fall hits, I find myself listening to indie / indiefolk / things that go on Zach Braff Soundtracks (#90skid). Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez is a good example of that.
