INTERNET SAFETY & DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP GUIDE FOR PARENTS
Each grade level in the Lake Stevens School District has a set of Digital Citizenship lessons that they provide to students throughout the school year. At NLMS we typically front load our Digital Citizenship lessons, and divide the lessons between the different classes. We are also working with Jeff Utecht this school year and will be incorporating his Common Sense Guide (see below) into our lessons. In additional we suggest the following digital citizenship tools that can be used at home to help emphasize strong digital citizenship for all students and families:
Jeff Utecht, a Seattle educator known globally for his work in education technology, has written an informative and common sense guide for parents in a 1:1 technology program.
Developer of our district Digital Citizenship curriculum, CSM has a host of resources to help parents understand how you can help your child use technology wisely and effectively.
This list of resources from Edutopia (George Lucas Foundation) will provide you with help on any of the most pressing online issues you or your child might encounter.
