GOOGLE CLASSROOM AND SKYWARD SUPPORT GUIDE FOR PARENTS
HELP YOUR MIDDLE SCHOOLER STAY ORGANIZED IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM
Google classroom has many components. The ten minute video linked below does an excellent job of walking you through all of the components, but if you are new to Google Classroom it is a lot to take in all at once. Feel free to pause and replay the video as needed. If you would like to slow the video down, click on the video's settings gear and change the playback speed to 0.75. Watching the video with your middle schooler is highly suggested.

Google Classroom protects student and teacher privacy rights under FERPA laws. However, as a guardian, parents can receive email summaries showing their child's progress in Google Classroom. Teachers input parent email addresses into Google Classroom each fall. Parents can also send teachers an email requesting to be added. Once this is done, the guardian can set the settings to receive Google Classroom email summaries daily or weekly.
Guardian email summaries include:
Missing work—Work that’s late at the time the email was sent
Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or work that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails)
Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers
