Scams are used to deceive people into believing there is an urgent need or issue that needs to be addressed. The goal of scammers is to steal information or profit financially from you. There are a variety of scams that occur on a variety of platforms - telephone, computer, social media, and texting.
One scam that you may encounter is a tech support scam that leads you to believe you have an issue with your computer. A message might pop-up on your computer or you might receive a phone call from someone pretending to be from a tech company such as Microsoft. Don't give anyone control of your computer or agree to pay any fees. Reach out to someone you trust for guidance and assistance.
