LGBTQ2+ inclusion is not just about policies—it is about creating environments where people feel seen, respected, and valued. Many LGBTQ2+ individuals face unique challenges shaped by cultural, religious, and community contexts. By practicing cultural humility, we move beyond assumptions and learn to meet people where they are, fostering trust, safety, and authentic connection.
At Live Humility, our LGBTQ2+ workshops combine insights from psychology, cultural studies, and lived experiences to build inclusive pathways for families, schools, workplaces, and communities.
Understanding LGBTQ2+ Identities through a Cultural Lens: This workshop explores how culture, faith, and tradition shape LGBTQ2+ experiences around identity, acceptance, and stigma. Participants will examine how cultural narratives influence coming-out processes and how cultural humility provides a framework to support individuals without imposing assumptions. Practical tools for affirming identity in diverse cultural contexts will be emphasized.
Mental Health and Resilience in LGBTQ2+ Communities: LGBTQ2+ individuals face disproportionate risks of anxiety, depression, and trauma due to stigma, discrimination, and systemic inequities. This workshop examines these realities through a cultural humility lens, highlighting barriers to care and strategies for culturally safe support. Participants will also learn techniques to foster resilience and coping within LGBTQ2+ communities by amplifying identity pride, community connection, and culturally affirming resources.
Creating Inclusive Schools and Workplaces: This practical session equips educators, employers, and leaders with tools to create policies, practices, and cultures that support LGBTQ2+ inclusion. Topics include addressing microaggressions, developing allyship programs, ensuring gender-affirming policies, and adapting approaches that respect cultural and community contexts. Participants will leave with actionable strategies to foster safer classrooms and workplaces.
Intersectionality: LGBTQ2+ Identities Across Cultures: LGBTQ2+ identities cannot be understood in isolation. This workshop explores intersectionality, examining how race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, and culture intersect with LGBTQ2+ experiences. Participants will learn to recognize unique challenges at these intersections while developing approaches that affirm complex, layered identities.
Advocacy and Allyship through Cultural Humility: This workshop equips participants with strategies for meaningful advocacy and allyship rooted in cultural humility. Rather than speaking for others, participants will learn to amplify LGBTQ2+ voices, challenge inequities, and promote justice in ways that respect cultural differences. The focus is on moving from “ally as label” to ally as action.
Building Resiliency in LGBTQ2+ Communities: This new workshop highlights how LGBTQ2+ communities cultivate resilience in the face of stigma, discrimination, and systemic barriers. Participants will explore the protective role of chosen families, community networks, cultural traditions, and advocacy movements. Practical strategies for fostering resilience at the individual, family, and community levels will be introduced, emphasizing both cultural strengths and psychological models of resilience.
Other Topics: Additional tailored sessions are available, including faith and LGBTQ2+ inclusion, supporting transgender and non-binary youth, addressing bullying and microaggressions, culturally safe healthcare, and building community resilience through allyship.
