Monday October 2, 2023

Today students did a cut and paste activity with different Earth Systems Interaction Scenarios. They had to read each scenario and decide which two Earth systems were interacting.

Homework: Complete the Earth Systems Interaction work from today.

If you were absent, go to Google Classroom for Monday October 2, 2023 to see how to make up today's work.

Tuesday October 3, 2023

Today, students made observations every 30 seconds on a beaker that contained room temperature water and a beaker that contained room temperature water with ice. Students observed water condensing on the outside of the beaker with ice over the span of 10 minutes.

If a student was absent, they will need to set up a time to make up the observation portion of the lab.

Wednesday October 4, 2023

Today we spent time working on numbers 3-7 in our water lab that we started yesterday. If students did not finish through number 7, they need to finish it for homework.

If a student was absent, they will need to make up the work and complete numbers 3-7.

Thursday October 5, 2023

Today, students worked on the explain portion of their lab. Groups shared their drawings and explanations of what happened during the observation portion of the lab (condensation). Students also watched a Generation Genius video about the Water Cycle. Once the video was over, students started to draw their water cycle using some of our vocabulary words to label the parts of the water cycle.

If a student was absent, they will need to watch the Generation Genius video using the link on Thursday October 5, 2023 on Google Classroom. They can also start drawing the water cycle.

Friday October 6, 2023

Today, students watched an EdPuzzle on the water cycle and worked more on their water cycle drawing in their lab packet.

If a student was absent, they will need to watch the EdPuzzle and work on their drawing to make up today's assignment.

Tuesday October 10, 2023

Today, we played a kahoot with questions about the water cycle, we answered some questions about the water cycle to remind ourselves what we learned last week, and we practiced our vocabulary.

If a student was absent, they need to go to Google Classroom and look under the posting for Tuesday October 10, 2023 for instructions on how to make up the work they missed today.

Wednesday October 11, 2023

We had MAP testing today so our class time was a bit shorter. Students completed their participation rubric, finished any recent unfinished work, and made appreciation cards for our flexible seating that was funded through Donors Choose.

If a student was absent, they need to make up the participation rubric.

Thursday October 12, 2023

Today we did a water cycle demonstration, read about the water cycle and rock cycle, and watched an EdPuzzle on how rocks form.

Homework: Finish your EdPuzzle.

If you were absent, you will need to make up the reading/highlighting notes and watching the EdPuzzle. Please go see today's posting in Google Classroom for instructions on what to make up if you were absent.

Friday October 13, 2023

Today we did a Gizmos lab online with the rock cycle.

If a student was absent, they will need to come see me to create their Gizmos lab and for instructions to the lab to make it up.

Homework: Rock Cycle Worksheet Label and a maze. The homework worksheet is two sided. Students can access both sides on Google Classroom under today's posting if they forgot it at home. I provided a partial answer key as well to help them. This is due at the start of class on Monday.

Monday October 16, 2023

Today we did activities to help us learn more about the carbon cycle and what types of objects contain the element carbon.

If you were absent, please go to Google Classroom's posting for Monday October 16, 2023 to see how you will need to make up today's work.

The only homework is to make up any MSNG work that you have posted in Aspen.

Tuesday October 17, 2023

Today students pretended to be a carbon atom on a journey. They used an interactive Google slide deck and dice to learn the different ways carbon moves around our Earth systems.

If a student was absent today, they need to go check today's posting in Google Classroom to see how they can make up the missed work.

Wednesday October 18, 2023

LMS had MAP testing today. We did not meet for science.

Thursday October 19, 2023

Students are continuing to work on their carbon cycle project. Some students finished documenting their journey while other students began sketching out their comic that would depict their own individual carbon atom adventure.

If a student was absent they will need to go to Google Classroom and look at today's assignment to see how to make up today's missed work.

Friday October 20, 2023

Today students worked on sketching out their carbon atom's journey in a comic strip. We will have one more day to complete this. Students will have Monday's class time then it will be for homework if it is not completed. This will be due at the start of class on Tuesday.

If you were absent today, please go to Google Classroom under today's posting to see how to make up today's work.

Students, to help you with your learning, you can share the journey with someone at home. Explain what locations you went to and what happened to you at those locations.

Parents/Guardians, I encourage you to ask your student about their journey. Ask them about the locations their carbon atom traveled to and what happened to them while they were there that led them to go to the next location.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Monday October 23, 2023

Today was our last class day to work on our Carbon Atom Journey and Comic.

HOMEWORK: If you did not finish your comic in class, you will need to complete it for homework. MAKE SURE YOU COMPLETE EVERYTHING ON YOUR CHECKLIST.

Tuesday October 24, 2023

Today we read about the carbon cycle in our eBook on pages 12, 13, and 14. Students then tried to highlight the key information independently to practice their note taking. Once students tried to find the key information on their own they compared their work to mine. We finished class by doing an EdPuzzle video on the carbon cycle.

HOMEWORK:

Students will need to finish any unfinished work from today's class as homework tonight. They will also need to do any MSNG assignments from Aspen.
