Ashley Tougas, Co-Director & Co-Owner
I am a Vermont native and currently reside in Highgate with my husband, Evan, and our two dogs, Layla and Sullivan, along with our cats, Titus and Ember. As Co-Director and Co-Owner of Little Peaks Learning, I am dedicated to building and sustaining a high-quality early childhood program that supports children, families, and educators through intentional leadership and strong educational practices.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Special Education from Castleton University (2018), and I have completed 30 credits toward my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Dyslexia Studies and Language-Based Learning Disabilities through Southern New Hampshire University. In May 2026, I earned my Step 1 Director Certification, further strengthening my leadership capacity within early childhood education.
My academic background and professional training guide my commitment to inclusive, developmentally appropriate practices that meet the diverse needs of all learners. I bring a strong emphasis on curriculum development, staff mentorship, and the creation of supportive, engaging learning environments. I prioritize collaboration, clear communication, and accountability to ensure the highest standards of care and education across our program.
Outside of my professional role, I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, gardening, and camping. I value time with my family and find balance in simple, seasonal activities and time in nature.
I am originally from New York and have called the beautiful state of Vermont home for the past few years. I currently live in Northern Vermont with my dog, Riley. As Co-Owner and Co-Director of Little Peaks Learning, I am dedicated to creating a supportive and welcoming environment where children and families feel valued, connected, and confident in the care they receive.
My primary focus at Little Peaks Learning is fostering strong relationships with families through clear, consistent communication while ensuring that every child experiences high-quality, play-based learning in a nurturing and engaging environment. I am passionate about creating spaces where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore, grow, and build confidence.
I have been working in the early childhood education field for over 10 years and am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Throughout my career, I have completed training in therapeutic intervention and supporting children through behavioral challenges. My experience has provided me with the tools to approach each child with patience, compassion, and understanding, and to support children in developing the skills they need to navigate their emotions. I also have experience working with children with diverse and specialized needs, which continues to shape my inclusive and individualized approach to care.
In my leadership role, I bring a strong sense of organization, encouragement, and a commitment to ongoing professional growth. I support and motivate our team to pursue continued education and professional development, ensuring we are always strengthening our practices and enhancing the care we provide. I prioritize open communication and trust-building with staff, children, and families, and I am committed to not only meeting but exceeding the standards that guide our program and reflect our mission and philosophy.
Outside of my professional role, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Riley, being with friends and family, kayaking, and exploring new places throughout Vermont. I value balance, connection, and making the most of the natural beauty that surrounds us.
