September 2025:
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Year 6!
We’ve had a really positive start to the year with your children and we are looking forward to building relationships and supporting them with their learning in the coming weeks and months. It is through working closely together with parents and carers that we aim to best prepare your children for the transition from Key Stage Two to Key Stage Three whilst giving them an enjoyable and educationally enriching year of learning.
If you have any queries about anything mentioned on this website, or if you need to see us concerning other issues, we are happy to talk with you at a mutually convenient time; please do use the class@littlegreen email account to contact teachers about specific classroom issues. For all other information and requests, contact the school office as normal.
Planners
The Year 6 children will shortly be allocated a planner to help them organise their homework, to write down reminders, and to independently be in control of passing on messages home (don't worry, the important bits will still be emailed!). Some weeks the planner will be busier than others. Please can you aim to sign your child's planner weekly for us to check on a Monday. Feel free to leave comments relating to your child's effort and attitude towards homework tasks for us to see, but this does not replace the class email system - messages in the planner from parents will not be responded to.
PE and Games days are as follows:
6E Mr Hyde’s Class: Monday and Friday
6R Miss Chhatralia Class: Thursday and Friday
6H Miss Brauka's Class: Thursday and Friday
Children are required to come to school on these days dressed ready in their PE kit. We must stress however that trainers should be in school every day (in addition to school shoes) as we hope to include exciting curriculum opportunities that require physical activity.
Whatsapp and Social Media
Despite children not being permitted to bring smart phones onto the school site, increasingly we are finding that behaviour on Whatsapp and other online applications is having an impact on learning and well-being in school. Whatsapp, Tik-Tok and other social media are platforms that we as a school simply cannot monitor and as a result we strongly request that you monitor your children’s behaviour when using the apps. The guidance by Whatsapp is that it should not be used by children under the age of thirteen and this is because many children are not emotionally mature enough to use the platform. Each year, we are increasingly finding that children are sending messages late at night to one another and very early in the morning too – sometimes these messages can be negative in content too. Children should not be involved in large ‘class’ or ‘year group’ Whatsapp', 'Messenger' or 'Snapchat', or any other social media platform, groups. Please reinforce this at home.
Swimming - As per separate communication...

Home Learning
We value your support in encouraging your child to complete their home learning. If there is a good reason why your child cannot do their home learning, then they should talk with the teacher concerned. If your child is struggling with their homework and they have spent a reasonable amount of time on it then please encourage them to seek help from the teacher, rather than struggle on - we will be very happy to support them with home learning in school.
Please click on the buttons below to find more information on each area of home learning, including a quick summary of expectations.
