Origins
The Plague originated from central Asia in 1346CE.
The Plague is a bacteria that lived in rats and was transmitted by fleas.
Rats hitch-hiked on ships which brought them to Europe where they spread the Plague.
The Cycle of the Plague
We are going to draw together as a class.
Why did it spread so much
The problem was that European society was very dirty.
Regular people only bathed once a year (at Easter).
People slept on hay or the ground.
Sewerage was above ground.
Disposing of bodies was careless.

The Effects of the Plague
It killed one third of Europe’s population, this equates to about 25 million people.
The Plague effected religion, some people turning away from religion and some people becoming more religious.
It changed the way people lived, how clean they were and their infrastructure.
The Plague also lead to the fall of the Feudal System because it made skilled workers more important and upper class people less important.
