ASVAB is an acronym that stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.
ASVAB is a paper and pencil test provided at no cost to Longview High School students.
The test consists of eight short individual tests covering word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, arithmetic reasoning, mathematics knowledge, general science, auto and shop information, mechanical comprehension, and electronics information. It is a comprehensive career exploration and planning program that includes a multiple aptitude test battery, an interest inventory, and various career planning tools designed to help students explore the world of work.
LHS students in grades 10, 11 and 12 are encouraged to take the ASVAB for several reasons:
If students are selecting educational and career goals, ASVAB can provide valuable information at no cost to students or their parents.
If students are planning to seek employment, ASVAB can help them link their aptitudes with occupational areas.
If students are planning to attend college, ASVAB can help them assess their potential for further formal education.
If students are interested in exploring broad clusters of military job and training opportunities, ASVAB scores can help them predict the likelihood of their qualifying for training in those cluster areas.
Please read below for the 2022 ASVAB test information:
Longview High School will administer the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery), an interest inventory for students in grades 10-12 to gain a better idea of future careers they want to pursue. This is a FREE test offered by the military, but the test DOES NOT in any way commit students to the military. Students are encouraged to participate because the test can guide them to college majors and future careers based upon their interests and aptitudes. Applications are available in the College and Career Center. Please return completed forms to Mrs. Beall in the College and Career Center by the stated deadline.
Test date: Wednesday, September 14, 2022
