To whānau, staff and students who attended Kimihia Parents’ College in 2023.
Over the last two years, staff and students at Kimihia Parents’ College were getting excited as the building was starting. What a pleasure it was to bless the Te Mātātupu building, built by South Base, on Te Aratai College grounds.
June 2022 build
May 2023, build completed
In term two we packed up our old school and held a farewell gathering for 521 Ferry Road. We invited all the old girls and staff who had attended Kimihia over the years since 2006 when it first opened. A great event for all who attended.
Kimihia staff
The wonderful staff at Kimihia put a great effort into this build project and we were able to move in term three 2023.
The wonderful caring staff and Manager Radhika of Kimihia Early Learning Centre joined us in term 4 and we were glad to have them onsite for our mothers and their children.
The blessing was a wonderful event and then in October when we were all settled in we had our grand opening. It truly was a grand opening as the sun was shining and we were well supported by the turnout of our large extended community in Christchurch.

School trips: We have enjoyed many trips this year. Our cultural narrative has expanded into two periods a week with Letesha Hallet and Shikobi DaSilva leading us in term 3 and 4 for our events.
Success: Congratulations to all the students who have passed their NCEA goals this year. Big thanks to James Abbott as the barista girls were successful at Ara again and his numeracy push, also Bianca for her push for completion of literacy.
I wish everyone a wonderful relaxing holiday and thank the Kimihia staff again for their continued commitment to ensuring the success of everyone who joins us.
