This in-person course introduces community college students to the human services profession and related fields, with emphasis on prevention, intervention, and remediation. It covers the wide range of careers and settings in the human services and related fields and prepares students for the HDFS (Human Development and Family Studies) beginning practicum. This course emphasizes the centrality of social justice and equity in the Human Services profession.
Included in this course are an instructor guide and course map, major assessments, and select in-class prompts and activities for key weeks of the term. The course readings include an open textbook chapter for most topics.
