COVID-19 Policy Summary

In compliance with public health guidelines, Lindsay enacted the following:
Proof of Vaccination:
As a condition of physical presence at a Lindsay Wildlife Experience facility, or any other facility in which Lindsay hosts an official work function (including wildlife rehabilitation homecare/satellite sites), all volunteers must provide proof of being “fully vaccinated”, or be granted an Exception or Deferral. A person is considered "fully vaccinated" when two weeks have passed since they completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series. Boosters are recommended, but not required.
Proof of vaccination status, or of an approved Exception or Deferral, can be submitted to your Volunteer Coordinator or Human Resources. More information can be found in the COVID Information and Documents section below.
All volunteers must re-evaluate their ability to be present at Lindsay using the current guidelines in "COVID-19 Policies and Procedures" (below) any time there are symptoms, an illness, or a possible exposure.
Masks of appropriate type must be worn by staff and volunteers when working at Lindsay according to current Lindsay departmental policies. Appropriate mask types can be found in the CDC mask guidelines:

Masks are required only for the following scenarios:
In the hospital hallway and laundry room
Masks are not required:
In any other AE spaces/scenario not listed above
Education:
Masks optional unless entering a space/department that requires them

Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital:
Volunteer Room, Hospital Office: Masks optional
All other hospital areas, including patient care rooms, laundry, kitchen, DFS, hallway: Masks required

COVID Self-Assessment: to be reviewed by any volunteer that intends to come to work at Lindsay’s facilities, either inside or outside.

COVID-19 Home Antigen Tests
There are various possible sources for free home antigen test kits:
Private health insurance: Many health insurance plans still provide free home antigen tests, some on a per-month basis.
Contra Costa County: Residents of Contra Costa County can obtain up to four packs, two tests per pack, through this online form:
Federal: Beginning September 25 2023, every U.S. household can again place an order to receive four more free COVID-19 rapid tests delivered directly to their home.
Before You Throw Out "Expired" Tests: Check FDA's website to see if your COVID-19 tests' expiration dates have been extended.
COVID-19 Information
"COVID-19 Plan", from the CDC, contains tools, information and action steps to share with your family, friends, and healthcare provider. The document contains links to many resources, such as information on risk, masks, vaccination, symptoms, testing, and treatment.
Lindsay Wildlife Experience COVID-19 Vaccination Policy (9/30/21)
As a condition of physical presence at a Lindsay Wildlife Experience facility, or any other facility in which Lindsay hosts an official work function (including wildlife rehabilitation homecare/satellite sites), all volunteers must provide proof of being “fully vaccinated”, or be granted an Exception or Deferral. A person is considered "fully vaccinated" when two weeks have passed since they completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series. Boosters are recommended, but not required.
Proof of Vaccination: Lindsay volunteers must submit proof of their vaccination status, or of a Lindsay Wildlife Experience approved Exception or Deferral. Documentation (image/copy of vaccination card, medical vaccination record, state digital vaccination record, etc.) for volunteers should be submitted to their department's Volunteer Coordinator.

Request for Exception/Deferral: Request for Exception/Deferral should be made to the Human Resources department using the Exemption Request Form linked below. Volunteers can request assistance or Human Resources contact information from their Volunteer Coordinator. While a request is pending, the individual must, as a condition of physical presence at Lindsay, observe all applicable public health directives and Lindsay policies.
Note: An Exemption, if granted, will necessitate weekly testing.
Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Exemption Request Form - If needed, fill out this form and return it to Lindsay Human Resources.
