Lindsay Wildlife Experience Volunteer Orientation

There you will find information regarding the various volunteer positions currently available in the Education Department, including position descriptions, requested commitment, qualifications, basic duties, etc.

Please read the following information regarding specific volunteer onboarding & orientation requirements for our department volunteer positions.

Exhibit Hall Wildlife Educators


Please ensure you have filled out the necessary paperwork sections 1 through 6  on the homepage of the Volunteer Orientation Website. Fill out the relevant forms, and send them to the Education Volunteer Coordinator, Erica DeLuca at edeluca@lindsaywildlife.org once completed. We require all staff, interns and volunteers to have a COVID-19 vaccine or apply for a deferral. If possible, please include a copy of your vaccination card with your paperwork. As an Education Volunteer, a background check is required. We will send a virtual form to complete your background check after your orientation. You must clear your background check before you can begin volunteering at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience.

School Program Wildlife Educators

Interns


Please ensure you have filled out the necessary paperwork sections 1 through 6 on the homepage of the Volunteer Orientation Website. Fill out the relevant forms, and send them to the Education Volunteer Coordinator, Erica DeLuca at edeluca@lindsaywildlife.org once completed. You DO NOT need to pay any fees as an intern. We require all staff, interns and volunteers to have a COVID-19 vaccine or apply for a deferral. If possible, please include a copy of your vaccination card with your paperwork. As an Education Intern, a background check is required. We will send a virtual form to complete your background check after your orientation. You must clear your background check before you can begin your internship at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience.


New Volunteer Orientation Day


On your Orientation Day you will walk up the front steps of Lindsay Wildlife Experience, enter the front door and make your Way to the Buckeye Room on the other side of the gift shop. You will have a 1.5 hour New Volunteer Orientation for Wildlife Educators and a tour of our facility on your Orientation Day. If you would like to review the presentation beforehand (to the right), you are more than welcome, but it is not necessary.

Wildlife Educators: New Volunteer Orientation

New Volunteer First Day

Before your first day, you will receive an email with further instruction from Education Volunteer Coordinator, Erica DeLuca at edeluca@lindsaywildlife.org

Ensure that you complete your New Volunteer Homework from Orientation Day:

Dress Code for Wildlife Educators

Tops: Shirts with sleeves that extend to the shoulders, no offensive graphics. Plain or Lindsay logo shirts preferred. Volunteers must wear a blue Lindsay volunteer polo or vest when on shift (once received). Name tags should be worn and visible at all times (once received).

Bottoms: Pants or knee-length shorts. No leggings or soft materials. Shorts must be khaki or earth tones (no jean shorts).

Shoes: Close-toed shoes.

Hats: No logos or sports team hats. Any hat purchased in the gift shop is acceptable.

Face coverings: CDC-approved face coverings are optional. 


Please note that this dress code is for Education Volunteers only and may not apply to other departments at Lindsay.
