For the second year at Lindenwold School 4, students will have two teachers. I teach the students in my homeroom (103) and Mrs. Strong's homeroom (101).

SPECIALS SCHEDULE:

Monday: P.E.

Tuesday: World Cultures

Wednesday: Music

Thursday: Art

Friday: Media

HOMEWORK: Students are supposed to read daily for about 20 minutes. Students will get spelling homework every night. It will always look the same, just with different words. There is also a life skill's homework that is for the week. It is only one sheet but listed for the week. Your child may know these things or they may be new!

Homework is due every Friday. The reading logs are turned in when they are complete.

CLASS DOJO: Class dojo is used for communication. Please feel free to message me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. You can also see if your child earned their points for class daily.

Your child will get a 4,3,2,1 point value for the day. The numbers will be like the standard based learning grades - 4 being going above and beyond, 3 meeting expectations, 2 needs some work today or 1 had a rough day and is not meeting the expectations of a third grade student.

FRIDAY FOLDERS: Most Fridays, each student will come home with a "Friday Folder". It will have the tests/classwork that they completed and I have graded. You can remove the graded work and do what you want with it. Then after you review the work you just sign and date the folder and send it back in on Monday!

TESTS/QUIZES: Most tests and quizzes will be given on Fridays. Students will take a phonics (Spelling) test most Fridays. Also, some Fridays, students will take an assessment on the reading skills we have been learning through the past week or weeks.

GRADES: Lindenwold is adapting a "Standards Based Grading" report card. Basically what this means is that within each subject we teach, the state outlines what we need to teach and what a student in the specific grade should be able to do by the end of the year. Your child will receive a score of 4, 3, 2, or 1 in each subject standard or "category".

4 means the student is preforming above where they are expected to be (ES exceeding standards)

3 means the student is preforming to grade level expectations (this is the goal) (MS Meets standards)

2 means the student can do part of the expectations but is not quite there yet. (AS Approaching standards)

1 mean that the student is struggling with the skill and still working on it. (NS Not meeting standards)

On many returned tests or quizzes you will see a 4,3,2, or 1. You might see some classwork with a check+ +, check+, check, and check - which means the same thing but just is not worth as much as a quiz or test is.

Reading Level: We are now basing your child's reading ability on a multitude of factors such as STAR assessments, phonics' skills, grade level standards mastery, and fluency. Your child will get a STAR score that correlates how they did on the test to a grade level that correlates with what they did. It is a mix of how they read the words and how they comprehend them. The STAR test is not perfect but one way we use to measure their ability level. How they preform in reading, writing, and phonics also paints a picture of their ability level.
