Dear Lighthouse Primary School Parents,
As we reflect on the past week's activities and look forward to what's ahead, I'm thrilled to share some exciting updates with you:
Reading Buddies Initiative
Our Grade 5 students have been dedicating time to read to their Grade 2 peers, fostering a culture of literacy and emphasising the importance of both reading and listening to texts. This initiative not only strengthens our reading program but also instills valuable lessons in collaboration and empathy among our students.
French Language Week
Our French Language Week kicked off with an engaging assembly, followed by a series of immersive learning activities. From practicing basic French phrases to enjoying a traditional French picnic, our students embraced the rich culture and language, broadening their horizons and fostering appreciation for diversity. Read more about the importance of second language development, in this week's Edu-Blog.
Save the Date: Family Fun Day - Saturday, 20 April
Get ready for a day of fun, laughter, and community bonding! Our upcoming Family Fun Day on Saturday, 20 April promises exciting activities for the entire family. We're grateful for the support of our vendors, sponsors, and volunteers in making this event possible. If you know of vendors or any one wanting to sponsor, please let us know.
Limited VIP parking tickets will be on sale from Wednesday, 27 March at Rs200 per ticket, and includes two Rs25 tokens to use on the day.
Easter Long Weekend
As we approach the Easter long weekend, we'll be focusing on the significance of the Sacrifice Jesus made and how special this time is for Christians around the world and in our Community. Through various activities leading up to the weekend, we aim to reflect on His love and kindness, and the sacrifice He made on the Cross.
Please be aware that on the following dates, we will not be at school:
29th March - Good Friday (No School)
1st April - Easter Monday (No School)
I want to extend my gratitude to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and enthusiastic children for making these initiatives a success. Your involvement and commitment to our school community are truly inspiring.
Please don't forget to look at the work our Grade 6s have been up to by following this link or clicking on the link in menu above.
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead filled with learning, laughter, and cherished moments with loved ones.
Warm regards,
Hannes van der Westhuysen

Traffic rules at drop-off & pick-up
Please make yourself aware again of our traffic requirements at drop-off and pick-up times as this will ensure a better service and experience for all.
Lighthouse parking & traffic policies:
We kindly request that parents refrain from arriving before 14:45 for pick-up. Early arrivals hinder us from using our sports fields, as well as impacting smooth traffic flow for school visitors. Early arrivals also pose safety concerns as we cannot monitor campus access effectively. If all guidelines are followed, collection should not take more than 15 minutes.
Children may not be called out of class after 14:00 unless there is a pre-arranged doctor's appointment, communicated in advance with their teacher via email or through reception.
Drop-off before 07:30 is discouraged as supervision is not provided during this time. Please understand that the school cannot assume responsibility for any incidents that may occur before official supervision begins.
Please note, siblings will not be grouped together for pick-up arrangements. Instead, all children will gather at designated pick-up points. This measure ensures better supervision and enhances overall safety protocols.
Your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines is greatly appreciated as we strive to maintain a secure and organised environment for all students and visitors. Thank you for your understanding and support!
