The adventure begins now
As the Grade 5's embark on their new journey of learning, we would like to welcome every parent and child to our team. The grade 5 classroom teachers, Ms Tanya and Ms Terrie are looking forward to the journey we will travel and the adventures we will share with you and your children this year. Our Moto in grade 5 is "Learn hard, have fun, show responsibility and build trust along the way"
Literacy
In CAR 1, we will focus on nurturing students' ideas, feelings, and well-being. We will achieve this by encouraging them to read, talk, and write about their experiences. Additionally, we will aim to expand their vocabulary and improve their spelling skills through engaging activities and dictionary exploration.Ā
Numeracy
In Numeracy this term we are focusing on understanding the value of numbers up to 1 000 000. Having fun with numbers is a great way for students to develop a positive attitude towards Numeracy.Ā If you would like to use a link for Maths games you can log into www.mathplayground.com. As a reminder, we have covered the following objectives:

OutdoorĀ
adventure day
The outdoor adventure day was a memorable and exciting experience for the grade 5 students!
As we are aware, adventures and outdoor education often provide opportunities for learning, teamwork, and personal growth. The students thoroughly enjoyed building shelters, constructing a mud wall and learned the importance of trusting God and each other.
We look forward to many more adventures this year.
First swimming lesson
Swimming lessons at school are a valuable and often essential part of a child's education. Learning to swim not only provides a life skill but also offers numerous physical and mental health benefits. At Lighthouse we have incorporated swimming into our cirricullum asĀ
Water Safety: Swimming lessons help students become more confident and capable in the water, reducing the risk of accidents and promoting water safety awareness.
Physical Fitness: Swimming is an excellent form of exercise that engages various muscle groups and promotes cardiovascular health. It helps improve strength, flexibility, and overall fitness.
Life Skill: Learning to swim is a crucial life skill that can potentially save lives. It equips students with the ability to navigate water environments safely.
Overcoming Fears: For some students, swimming lessons offer a chance to overcome fear or anxiety related to water. This can build confidence and resilience
Long-Term Health Benefits: Teaching swimming at an early age encourages a lifelong appreciation for aquatic activities, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
