Reading is the best part of the day
As we embark on the first four weeks of school, it's been wonderful to witness our students' creativity blossom, especially on rainy days when they've delved into writing imaginative stories and joyously sharing them with each other. Amidst the raindrops, we've also taken the opportunity to refresh our minds by revising all the phonetic blends from grade 1—a great way to start the year! This week, we introduced our first new phonetic sound, "ay," and had a blast moulding clay while learning. Our noun hunt was another highlight as we brushed up on our understanding of nouns, and we're thoroughly enjoying our new adventures with Kipper stories during shared reading time. Here's to many more enriching experiences ahead!

NUMERACY
Fun with numbers
During our recent home learning days, it has been incredible to witness the amazing math skills our children have demonstrated, especially on those rainy afternoons. They've been diligently practicing bonds to ten and are now eagerly ready to tackle addition up to 20. The sight of numbers and number names sprawled across the school grounds in chalk has added an extra element of excitement to our numeracy lessons. What's even more delightful is seeing how much fun our students are having with math games—they're engrossed in play while unknowingly enhancing their mathematical abilities. It's truly inspiring to witness the joy and enthusiasm our children bring to their math learning journey.

The Grade Two children recently visited our school's aquaponics system to see how it works. They were fascinated by the pump, which moves water in the system. They even helped harvest the first batch of lettuce, which we later enjoyed for lunch. They also planted new seedlings to keep the system growing. It was a fun and educational experience that got them excited about how plants grow and where our food comes from!

Entry point to 'Brain Wave' interactive Science Experiment
In our recent IPC topic, "Brain Waves," our children have been learning about the different parts of the brain and what they do. This has helped them understand how their brains develop and why it's important to take care of them. We've also enjoyed reading "The Magical Yet," a story that teaches us the power of trying and believing that anything is possible. Through these lessons, we're showing our children that learning and practice help us understand and achieve amazing things.
