Welcome back!
Dear Parents and caregivers,
Welcome back to school! We are excited to have our students back, and learning has been in full swing since the start of the term. We began the year with Ms. Nditha, but we now wish her farewell. She will be deeply missed by all us, but we warmly welcome Ms. Nikita to our Grade 4 family. We believe she will be awesome with our children too!
We've been busy exploring new topics in numeracy, literacy, and IPC. Moreover, as the seasons change, we remind parents to ensure that children have a sweater with them to stay warm. If your child is feeling unwell and feverish, please keep them at home to rest and recover. If your child has a runny nose, please make sure they have tissues in their bags.
We also take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to our Class Parent Liaisons for their continuous support.
We continue to look forward to our close collaboration with you for the growth of the children in their learning.
Much love,
The Grade 4 teachers
Literacy Adventures
In literacy, our students have been diving into the world of reading, writing, and storytelling. We've been retelling our own versions of the classic tale, "The Princess and the Pea," using conversation bubbles and speech marks. The children have practiced direct speech and created story maps to inspire their creative writing. They planned and wrote their unique versions of the story, showcasing their creativity and imagination. Please see some of their beautiful work below.

Numeracy
Here are some snippets of what the children have been learning in the Numeracy Classes:
We have been focusing on "Measurement," particularly time intervals, and converting units of time such as hours, minutes, seconds, days, weeks, and years. We are applying this knowledge to real-life situations, including problem-solving questions and 2-step problems.
We are currently learning multiplication tables with an emphasis on the 7, 9, 11, and 12 times tables. We are also revising the 5 and 10 times tables. Children are encouraged to learn and revise the multiplication tables daily for 10 minutes as part of a home learning assignment.
In the upcoming weeks, we will continue with the 2 units: Measurement (Time) and Multiplication and Division. Following that, we will move on to a new unit on "Geometry".
IPC Excitement: Shake It!
Our IPC lessons have been especially exciting with our new topic, "Shake It." In this unit, we are exploring the fascinating world of different types of milk. Since the beginning of the term, the children have been exploring the 3 states of matter using different types of milk. They have gained valuable insights into the ingredients found in these varieties of milk and their significant roles in maintaining a healthy body.
Several engaging projects have been assigned as part of their home learning activities. The children have been engaging in experiments to observe, taste, smell, and compare the colors of various milk samples. We extend a special thanks to the secondary biology lab for lending us the necessary equipment for our experiments. The children also learned about the properties of milk and how it changes under different conditions, making science both fun and educational.
Moreover, the children are eagerly anticipating an upcoming classroom experiment where they will witness firsthand the transformation of milk into ice cream.

We celebrated Ms. Nditha's departure with a fun PJ party with both Grade 4 classes. We also had a surprise farewell party planned by all the Grade 4 Green parents. A big thank you to everyone who helped make these events memorable!
