Grade 2

LITERACY

The Grade 2 students have started Term Two glowing with enthusiasm and progress! We have already mastered the phonics of u_e and e_e sounds, the 'ch' sounding like 'sh', and the 'ir' sound. In language, we've explored the exciting new concepts of suffixes like '-ful' and '-less', and had much fun learning about compound words and adjectives. Our children are excelling in reading, rapidly advancing through the levels of our delightful Oxford readers. Please remember to spend no more than twenty minutes a day revising reading and spelling bee words to keep up the fantastic momentum!

NUMERACY

In numeracy, we have been reviewing counting in steps of 10, 5, 2, and 3 from any number, both forward and backward. We are also using arrays, learning multiplication and division facts for the 2, 3, 5, and 10 times tables, adding three one-digit numbers, and practicing doubling and halving numbers.

IPC

In IPC, we have enjoyed our new unit, "We Are What We Eat." We have been learning about the vital role of food in sustaining human life, as well as its importance in history and culture around the world. As scientists and nutritionists, we are studying the different types and amounts of food our bodies need to plan healthier diets and enjoy healthier lives.  The children enjoyed making posters about healthy and unhealthy foods.
